We Were Busy In 2008 !
During 2008, we launched our website,
www.millfoundation.org. This is the source for
all information about the Mill Foundation.
Please visit the site during the year to see
what we’re up to, look at pictures from events
you’ve attended, and to spread the word. For all
you Facebookers out there, we recently created a
group on Facebook! Help us to achieve our goal
of 500 friends by April 1 by spreading the word
to your Facebook network. We see Facebook as a
great way to get our name out and provide quick
updates within the local community and beyond,
and doing it in a way that is good for the
environment. To find the group, search Mill
Foundation for Kids on Facebook and join the
Mill Foundation Nation.
On Saturday, May 31st, we partnered with Rita’s
Italian Ice on Queen Street in Southington to
build awareness and raise funds for pediatric
illness. This was a great opportunity for us to
involve many children in the cause. The kids had
a great time dressing in the Rita’s costume and
serving as ‘celebrity scoopers’. Thanks to all
of you that stopped by and joined us. We look
forward to hosting this event again this year.
On Friday, September 12th, we
held our 2nd Annual Tee off For Kids golf event
at Tunxis Plantation. Despite the rain late in
the round, the event was a success at our new
location. Golfer participation in the event
increased over prior year and we welcomed back
our sponsors and welcomed many new sponsors to
the Foundation. Congratulations go out to the
team of John Scalise, Jamie Palmese, Todd Martin
and James Boryczewski, who took home first
prize. We’re already planning this years
tournament. Details to follow soon on
www.millfoundation.org.

costs of the evening themselves… thanks
a ton to these great folks!! Please

will be a great night and to show your
support for The Mill Foundation For
Kids!
A Note About The
Economy & Charitable Giving
|
 |
|
|
The Mill Foundation for Kids
team understands the impact that the economy is
having on everyone. During these tough times, we
understand that it may not be as easy to attend
an event or donate a raffle prize as it has been
in the past. We simply ask that you consider The
Mill Foundation as you reassess your budget and
charitable giving. We want you to feel confident
that your contribution will directly and
positively impact a child that has been impacted
by a pediatric illness. The Mill Foundation for
Kids is a fully voluntary organization with the
vast majority of funds raised going to the
facilities, children and their families
directly. We would like to thank you for the
continued participation and generosity we
receive from you. We can’t express our
appreciation to you enough. We hope to see you
at the Aqua Turf on March 14.
Passing Of A Friend
The Mill Foundation for Kids, Inc. lost a friend
on November 7, 2008. Kathleen (Talbot) Scalise,
mother to Mill Foundation for Kids volunteer and
donator John Scalise, passed away unexpectantly
at the Hospital of Central Connecticut. Our
condolences go out to John, his father Jim and
the rest of the Scalise family. In addition to
our deepest sympathy, we also extend a heartfelt
thank you to the Scalise Family. In lieu of
flowers, the Scalise's asked that donations be
made to the Mill Foundation for Kids.
