Thank You

To all attendees of our fourth annual Shamrockin' for Kids dinner dance held on March 13, we say Thank You! For the fourth year in a row, attendance at our signature event has grown. Over 550 guests joined us for an exceptional night. Together we raised $30,000 which will allow us to continue our work by providing toys and gifts to the children in the hospital, along with supporting research that is focused on finding a cure for pediatric illnesses. With your continued support we can continue to increase our attendance each year.

Pictured below are our 2010 Above and Beyond Award winners, Amy Meisinger and William Bradley, along with presenter, Laurie Faye.

The Mill Foundation For Kids Donates $15,000 to Cancer Research Fund

The Mill Foundation For Kids is proud to support Dr. Mark Kieran's Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Fund. Dr. Kieran is the Medical Director of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at the Jimmy Fund Clinic, part of Dana Farber Cancer Institute. TMFFK donated $15,000 to his cancer research fund which is at the forefront of developing innovative treatments for pediatric brain tumors! Dr. Kieran's team is working on several novel chemotherapeutic and biologic agents that offer new approaches to therapy. Also, in conjunction with a number of groups, they are examining a series of tumor specimens from pediatric patients to evaluate the expression of abnormal signaling pathways. The increasing availability of small-molecule inhibitors of many cell-surface signaling receptors may open the door to a series of clinical trials. The first national clinical trial based on this work is already under way.

"In spite of children being our most precious resource, funding to support pediatric cancer research remains minimal. As new highly specific drugs become available, delays in understanding the mutations that underlie pediatric cancer means delays in providing optimal treatment. With the support of The Mill Foundation for Kids, we can continue our efforts to molecularly characterize pediatric cancers and thus speed treatments to these patients."
Dr. Mark W. Kieran, MD, PhD
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

TMFFK will continue to support Dr. Kieran's efforts and we look forward to hearing about the new developments in treatments that his team develops and enhances.
