Great, highly recommend

Having travelled with a different firm I was shocked at how much better Irish ferries are. All but one member of staff were friendly, welcoming and a credit to themselves and the company they work for. Irish ferries are a more expensive option than the some of their competitors but you get what you pay for. Clean well turned out vessels, overwhelmingly fantastic staff, brilliant. One criticism for balance, the barman on one of my crossings was rude and unhelpful. Not able to muster a basic level of courtesy and respect. We all have bad days, but this guy was just an a**hole. Other than that the staff were exemplary, top notch and first class. I look forward to travelling with Irish Ferries in the future.

Three star service

Used a couple of times now and haven't had any major problems. The ferries always look run down and dated though so only 3 star.

Excellent

I have traveled on Irish ferries many times before. I recently traveled on the new Dublin Swift much improved over the old Jonathan Swift. Spacious and comfortable. I would definitely recommend Irish Ferries.

Gateway to Europe

A fine ship to travel on.....looks to be more stable on rough waves than the Oscar Wilde, the boat it replaces....the duty free shop is short on the range of stock it sells......cabins are comfortable with improved noise insulation....embarcation is swift since they use two lanes simultaneously but disembarking from the vessel is painfully slow and uncertain due to the lack of personnel employed to supervise it effectively...the public address system used throughout the cabins is set far too high with no adjustable volume control....much improved play area for children....the staircases to the car decks are narrow and no good system is employed to supervise the passengers returning to their vehicles.

Cabins and when to book them.

I recently traveled with Irish Ferries from Holyhead to Dublin overnight. Not a long journey but we had driven quite a while and needed some sleep. We had planned to sit while traveling so didn't book the cabin at the time of the original booking. Original cabin price (whilst booking) was £24 each way..on the day booking through the information desk on the ferry it was £47 or 50euros..we needed it so we paid the £47...after arriving at our destination I called Irish ferries to book a cabin for our return, they quoted me £67 and we were told there were only 2 cabins left..a double and one with wheelchair access We declined and hoped that it would be £47 on the day of return...it was and there were a lot of cabins available. So..if you require a cabin I would advise you book at the same time as arranging your travel. Our trip was pretty amazing, Dublin is a wonderful City. The Irish ferries staff Dublin side information desk were absolutely brilliant and helped me out more than they know..Thank you ladies :)

Irish ferries staff are fantastic.

Irish ferries where fantastic when our new transit custom with only 198 miles on, refused to start when we tried to disembark in Dublin port. They towed us off the ferry, looked after us, changed our booking, towed us back on the next ferry to the uk supplying us with a cabin for a much needed sleep. We could not thank them enough for going the extra mile to help. A huge big thank you to irish ferries staff. Xxx

Mini cruise is not what it seems

. This weekend I booked a, quote, 'mini cruise', which was a 3 day/two night journey on the new Dublin France cruise ferry, with an afternoon to spend in Cherbourg before reyurning. My first surprise was discovering we had to change rooms on the return leg, so I naively enquired if we should pack our cases and leave them to be put in our new room, across the corridor while we were in Cherbourg. I was told in no uncertain terms that even If I had the same room for the entire trip, I had to vacate the room in Cherbourg, it was compulsory to disembark, and I had to pack, remove and pull my case around Cherbourg for the 3-5 hours until re-boarding. How is this a 2 night cruise? They would not let us leave our cases in the ship, and had no idea if there was a locker service available at the terminal building. When a cruise ship docks passengers can leave and return at will, but this was a case of treating the passage as two unrelated journeys, while advertising it as a mini cruise. My partner refused to travel over this, because of the uncertainty over boarding times (last on via a bus again?) and luggage removal, so on the morning due to lack of answersI did successfully negotiate a cancellation and a credit, not a refund, which was better than nothing. So beware, mini cruise is NOT a cruise, it's two seperate ferry journeys, so either travel with minimal baggage, or hire a car for the 5 hours to drive your cases around

Ulysses is The Best! Epsilon small and cramped.

Being a nervous traveller I decided to overcome this and go home to Ireland by ferry. We went out on the Epsilon and returned on the Ulysses.Booking price and check in to port was easy and fast.Everything ran to time.Ship well staffed and friendly.Epsilon is a small ferry. It mainly caters for the lorry drivers as there were loads on it. I must say I found it quite cramped and seats were in high demand. The crossing was smooth as sea was calm.We arrived a little early.Personally I wouldn’t go on it again as I found it a bit small but that’s personal opinion. The return trip was on the mighty Ulysses. What a treat. It was huge! Same efficient service and staffing.Duty free shop was fantastic! Selection of food on board was great.Plenty of space to stroll around and pass the time pleasantly. I truly loved it and did not feel anxious at all. In fact I was a bit sad the trip was over!Thank you Irish ferries I’m planning on travelling on Ulysses again at end of summer.Highly recommend.

great experience

Admittedly good weather will always help as no one ever wants to be seasick but they let us board early, were polite and courteous but efficient, I was able to go straight to my cabin and sleep. Wonderful alternative to getting home especially with all the flight issues. Holyhead very well signposted with good roads too.

I travel with Irish Ferries once per year - always good

I travel with Irish Ferries at least once a year on the Rosslare - Pembroke service. I normally travel June - August time. In all the sailings, I have never had any service or other issues. There was one instance where we needed to amend a booking and it was done over the phone with minimal issue. When we are checking in at the terminal and on arrival onboard, it is always with a smile. The cabins are always clean and the ClubClass service is good value.
