Specialized bike order

Bought a Specialized bike from Evans online on the 27th of April. Was told 18-21 days for delivery and received it yesterday, so within the estimate. After seeing the recent reviews on here just after I'd ordered I was quite worried, so I'm happy with the service I've received given the circumstances. The only negatives were that the front reflector arrived in the box having been snapped off at some point, which was slightly frustrating. There also weren't any instructions on how to set the bike up (as had been promised on the website). I would think about including the instructions as a pdf somewhere, and then it wouldn't matter if they didn't come in the box.

After a week of endless research we finally chose the bikes we wanted but feared that we would face the same problems as listed in here. So we decided to brave a visit to the Deansgate store in Manchester. We cannot falter them for their honesty and also the time they took with us in such unprecedented time’s. At 4.30 Saturday afternoon 15th May we called in to ask about delivery times if ordering online. The staff were really honest and said that they would not guarantee that the time stated on the web would be the time we actually got. We thanked for the Information and asked if we could buy in store instead with a better delivery time They accommodated us by taking us through what we would need and then ordered them - now here goes our fingers crossed for delivery in 2 weeks or less. Better news is that they are opening the stores next week for browsing (all properly social distancing too).In such tough times we are prepared to accept what they have said at face value and trust that this will be the service we receive. Long live the high street retailers. We spent many hours looking online and did not feel confident to commit to a big purchase of two decent bikes without chatting with staff. We will look forward to buying our accessories here too

Very good and reliable online shop

I have ordered several times from this site, I never had a problem. They even replaced an item with no extra cost, when it stopped working after some months. However, my last order was about two years ago. I cannot know whether they still operate well.

No complaints - good service

Have just purchased another bike from the Plymouth branch of evans and I have no complaints. This is the 3rd bike i have purchased from the plymouth store and all have been in good working order when i have received them. Also the team at the store are very helpful and offered good advise on questions I asked. I will be happy to shop from them again.

I seem to have got fairly lucky in…

I seem to have got fairly lucky in comparison to some other customers trying to order a bike. I received my bike after paying in full in around 14 days. My order processed after about 10minutes and was then on status ‘stock allocated’ for about a week. I then received an email saying my bike had been picked and was on its way to the workshop to be built. The status stayed on ‘picked’ for around 4 days. I then received an email saying my order had been dispatched, 3 days later my bike had been delivered. But like so many others I didn’t receive a multi tool or the pedal spanner. The front wheel wasn’t on properly, first ride out the front break started grinding against the disc, after 1 break test, plus the gears weren’t aligned properly. Now I was able to fix these issues myself but for someone who doesn’t have any bike experience or correct tools this would of been a bigger problem.

Great service from the team at StPauls today. Ordered my bike on Friday that was in store so no waiting time, got a call on Saturday to arrange collection time and have just picked up my new bike fully assembled and they even took the time to answer all my questions.Thank you very much Team, you were a pleasure and I’m very grateful

I ordered a Pinnacle Laterite 3 from Evans - bike was as advertised. Bike delivered on time, well packaged and assembled. Easy to set up from the box.Shimano 105 gears make for very crisp shifting; the bike feels very light and agile. Aluminium frame with carbon fork. The bike is shod with decent Continental Ultrasport tyres, and Jagwire internally-routed cabling. Evans have cut some corners on the crankshaft (Prowheel Ounce) and brakes (Tektro R340) - but these are perfectly adequate and you really can't complain at the £700 price point.

Excellent customer care and finding solutions

I needed to collect my Brompton bike from Evans and the only store open was in Clapham The staff had vast number of customers but were polite,attentive and knowledgeable Particular excellent customer care by Clayon the assistant manager who went above and beyond in terms of customer care and Andy P’s knowledge. Well done Evans Cycles

I felt I had to write a review. we are in the middle of difficult times and nothing is the norm. It various different challenges have faced lots of companies. I have to say Evans Cycles in my experience have stepped up when it was needed. I purchased a bike just before lockdown but delivery was on the first day of lockdown so didn't happen. I left any contact for 10 days as I expected it would take time to sort out issues and logistics. I initially used Live chat It was slow an was obviously under pressure Answers appeared to be stock answers rather than specific to my order. I resorted to email that took 4 days to respond to and again received stock responses After a second email was left unanswered I wrote a new email escalation my concern. I mediately got a phone all from a senior manager who promised to respond later in the day. By lunch time I had a return call, a full explanation why they could not fulfil my order and a very acceptable offer of an alternative. I chose the alternative, The order was confirmed within the hour and the local shop completed the set up next day and I collected my bike. I am extremely happy with way I was dealt with and given the circumstances I think they stepped up to the mark. Yes it did take a little time to get the communication under way but I think given the sudden and very unexpected pressure put on the company by the current situation I think they have done exceedingly well. Identical experience to the last two posts, but resolved!

This matter was resolved, and in hindsight the delay resulting from the C-19 crisis may have clouded matters somewhat. I now have a very satisfactory solution with a generous compensatory e-voucher added to a full refund and next day collection of the damaged bike.Original review....Identical experience to the last two. at least 7 emails sent, and three phone calls on hold, one for over an hour then and only then to a recorded message - the same as the first message.Bike was not packaged correctly, the cardboard bracing was left out, spanners not included, pedals not secured so free to bash around in the carton (which they did, gouging a nasty scratch down to the aluminium on the top of the frame).Main issue is that the rear derailleur was forced in so that that the fixing bracket was bent, the jockey wheels were virtually in the spokes, and the fixing bracket was crimping the chain against the 1st two sprockets on the cassette so the chain could not move freely. Gears jammed, everything jammed. this is a £700 bike that my 17 year old son largely saved and paid for. It all seems rushed and careless.I've also contacted Tuffnells delivery as I don't know how the pedals got to scratch the top of the frame when there's a huge this way up sign.I appreciate that the C-19 situation is challenging, but this is not an excuse for shoddy service. If you can't do it right because of C-19 then don't try and then mess it up for customers.,

Missing tool and instructions

Received the bike, mostly as advertised, all set up, built and freindly delivery. However I had no instructions with the set up of bike and the tools like Multi tool I was supposed to get, did not come with it. Now I cannot adjust the seat (as it doesnt have lever) or the handlebars.
